Cybersecurity Fundamentals is an introductory level course designed for new and transitioning Information Technology professionals. Students learn preferred network topologies and the uses of Intrusion Detection/Prevention systems; the use and maintenance of firewalls and anti-virus software; to recognize various types of network based attacks; to recognize social engineering attacks, both remote and in-person; and the importance of establishing policies, and disaster planning.

Objectives
  • Explain cyber threats and vulnerabilities that can affect an organization, and the importance of having written cybersecurity policies and procedures in place
  • Describe the core security principles and the essential security controls for protecting the organization and securing data
  • Explain the importance of protecting the organization by applying cybersecurity policies, mitigating risks, and planning to recover from cyber-attacks
Target Audience

Information Technology personnel or Information Technology managers. The audience can be comprised of individual participants, as well as organizational divisions or a combination of both.
